Cover Art Guidelines

We are currently closed to submissions. Check back for additional opportunities in late 2013.

These guidelines are for cover art.  Please read all relevant guidelines before submitting.

Rights Information:
We acquire serial printing rights for a predetermined issue of The Conium Review.  All rights revert to the artist upon publication.  We will never reproduce your writing in additional print or online formats without your permission.

Payment:
We are a non-paying market, but we offer artists one free copy of the issue with their work on the cover.

Submissions:

• We are seeking full-color or black and white cover art for print editions ofThe Conium Review.  Photography, drawings, painting, and mixed media are all acceptable mediums.
  
• You may submit up to five pieces for consideration.  Do not send additional pieces until you have heard back about the first five.  We try to respond within 30 days, but it can take up to 60.  If you haven’t heard back within 30 days, you may send a query e-mail.
  
• Send art submissions via e-mail to coniumreview@gmail.com.   We do not accept art through the mail.  Type “Art Submission: Your Name” in the subject line, and attach each image as a high-resolution file.  Use one of the following file formats: .jpg, .jpeg, .bmp, .png, .gif, or .tif.
  
• Please include a brief cover letter in the body of your e-mail.  On the cover letter, list any prior exhibits, awards, academic degrees earned, or any other information that you think is relevant.
  
• With your submission, please attach a word document containing a two or three sentence third-person biography for the issue’s contributor’s page.
  
• If the artwork you submit has been published in a different magazine, please let us know the details in MLA format.  If you are unfamiliar with MLA citations, consult the Purdue Online Writing Lab’s guide.  If the specific piece of art appeared in an exhibition, please give us any available gallery, date, location, and curator information so we may cite this in The Conium Review.

• If you don’t mind sharing, we like to know where you heard about The Conium Review.  This information helps us figure out the best strategies for attracting new writers and readers to the publication.
